Latest News: "Country Boy" wins first place in the country category of the Indie International Songwriting Contest. "Anna Mae" wins third in the acoustic/country/bluegrass category of the 100% Music Songwriting Contest and is a finalist in the Great American Song Contest. "Fool's Gold" gets an honorable mention in the ACF Radio Contest. Gene was a featured guest on the Fredricksburg Songwriters' Showcase.

Waiting for Rain is now available. All original songs by Gene Mills, including the award winning "Oregon Hill," "Earl Thomas Johnson," "Anna Mae," "Working Man's Hands," and "Country Boy." Most of the CD has been getting radio airplay, including airtime on the nationally syndicated Folk Sampler and NPR's Car Talk, regular airplay throughout Virginia (WVTF, WCVE, WRIR, WTJU) and heavy play on Chicago's WGBT.
