Gene and Gayla Mills are a folk and country singer/songwriter duo.  Gene has been playing in the Central Virginia area for over 30 years and has been called by one reviewer "one of the most talented songwriters and musicians in Virginia." His deep, smooth voice and impressive lead guitar are accompanied by Gayla's harmonies and bass; they are the perfect vehicle for songs ranging from clever to poignant..

Gene writes lyrics that are complex and rich, telling stories and creating characters that are concrete and memorable. From stories about coal mining or farming to lost loves or lessons from war, the duo play songs that move audiences. Their songs include the upbeat, the comic, and the tragic, but all are pleasing to the ear.

In addition to playing bass and singing harmony, Gayla is the marketing and graphics mastermind behind Heart Pine Music Publishing. She makes sure the trains run on time and that Gene is well supplied with napkins.
